FIELD NOTES

Cassidy Neal

Growing up in Western Kentucky, I was constantly surrounded by agriculture; however, I did not grow up on a farm. My first real experiences in agriculture began in high school through FFA. Since that time, I fell in love with agriculture in every way. I wanted to share my curiosity and love for agriculture with others; thus, I decided to teach. I am now a middle school agriculture teacher at Gladeville Middle School in middle Tennessee. Welcome to my teaching journey full of curiosity, learning, and, of course, agriculture.

PERSONAL PROFILE

Get To Know Me

I am in my first year of teaching. I am thankful to be at the brand new Gladeville Middle School where I will be teaching middle school agriculture to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. I just recently graduated from Murray State University with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a focus on agricultural education and a specialized certification in chemistry. To prepare myself for teaching, I have participated in a variety of experiences studying agriculture beyond the classroom. I joined a handful of agriculture clubs in college ranging from the Collegiate Farm Bureau to Agriculture Ambassadors. I had the opportunity to Study Abroad in Hungary to study the differences in international and domestic agriculture. Loving my experience abroad, I took the opportunity to complete three weeks of my student teaching in Corozal, Belize before completing my student teaching experience at Caldwell County High School in Kentucky. Besides studying abroad, I have also had the opportunity to intern with National FFA for a semester and with US Representative Comer in Washington DC in summer 2018.

Besides learning about agriculture, I enjoy hiking, camping, and doing anything outside with my friends, family, and dog, Sadie. I also enjoy reading young adult fiction, painting watercolor animals, and watching "Criminal Minds" on Netflix. In September, I will be getting married to my fiance, Andrew.
